Night Life- Huntington Beach

This time, Jeff from Cellar Door Photography, Jet and I headed to Huntington Beach the night before the 4th of July. The streets were full and crowds were rowdy, but Jet held her own!
I wanted to reflect a bit of the night lights on her look so I went with a dark purple smokey eye with a pop of turquoise, a strong highlighted cheek and a subtle lip to pull it all together.

I look forward to working with you again soon, Jet!
Until next time,

Out on the town

Kimberly was having a night out on the town and wanted to look extra beautiful! Her only request was that it was smokey and made her eyes pop! I decided to go with a gold-bronzey smokey eye, wispy lashes and gave the rest of her face a dewy, summer glow.

I hope you had a blast Kimberly!

Sweet Sixteen- Laguna Beach, CA

Alissa decided to surprise her Father with "Sweet Sixteen" pictures and I was honored to do her makeup. She wanted a pop of color so I did a hot pink lip using OCC's Lip Tar in Yaoi and kept the rest of her face really simple with a winged eyeliner. She looked radiant!

Thank you so much Alissa!
Until next time,

June 8, 2013

This past Saturday, I had a lovely client who was attending a Quinceañera and wanted to look extra special. She really wanted to try a smokey eye with a gradient from light to dark. I used Urban Decay's NAKED palette to apply a shimmery champagne to the lid and the inner corner to brighten up her eyes. I then smoked it out on the outer corner and finished off with a dramatic winged liner and some flirty Red Cherry lashes. Because we wanted the eyes to be the main focus, we kept the cheeks and the lips pretty nude but added a beautiful highlight from NARS to the top of her cheekbones and the bridge of her nose!

Isn't she gorgeous? Thank you so much Adriana! I hope you had a fantastic time.
Until next time,
Melina

Costa Mesa, CA

Today we headed out to Costa Mesa to do an urban inspired shoot with the beautiful Caitlin. Jeff took some amazing shots on top of motorcycles, in front of hot rods, behind dumpsters and more. To give the shoot an urban, grungy feel, I decided to go with a black smokey eye and I tied everything together with MAC's lipstick in Diva, which is the perfect burgundy. As always, we had an awesome time and look forward to working together again in the near future!

A special thanks to Ricky Roadster for lending us his Harley!

Bill Barber Park

Today was the perfect day for a photoshoot in the beautiful city of Irvine! I had the pleasure of working with the talented Jeff Jacobs from Cellar Door Photography and two gorgeous ladies. For Shylie, I went with a very bronzey, sun-kissed glowy look and Jenni went with a subtle eye look and a beautiful bright pink lip for contrast. They're both absolutely beautiful and so much fun to work with!

Check out Cellar Door Photography for more pictures of today's shoot!

Until next time,

Spring 2013 Makeup Trends

When it comes to makeup trends, bare is always beautiful- but don't be afraid to add a bit of color to your face! One of the best ways to achieve this look is by applying a bright color on the lid, along with a neutral color on the crease and a very natural blush and lip to help balance everything out.

Another way to add a pop of color, and my personal favorite, is by wearing very little to no eyeshadow, a bit of eyeliner and bold, bright lip! You can never go wrong with a red, orange or a hot pink pout!

What look are you rocking this spring?

Until next time,
Melina
